JAZZ
DOUBLEBASS GUT SETS -
Gut
strings were already
produced in Padoa,
Verona, Venice,
Treviso and Vicenza since the
beginning of the 17th century.
Documents of the time show that such production lasted uninterruptedly
well into the mid 20th century. Locally produced strings, thanks to
their superior quality, were exported abroad in big quantity, as proven
by numerous recently discovered archival sources. Our products are
wholly produced in house in Vicenza
(a town 60 Km far from Venice), to individual requirements, beginning
from
fresh gut, respecting and reviving the old
italian tradition.

The
scope of our work, supported by
constant
research
and painstaking experimentation, is to offer natural gut strings
produced by modern
craftsmen working in
the 19 and 20th Italian/French string-makers manufacturing criteria
that for centuries has been passed on from one generation to the next,
sure to offer you the very best of our tradition and aiming to reach
the magic of sound that only gut, of all materials, can achieve.

- 'THUNDER' SET (SINTETIC NYLGUT SET) -
Until
the mid of the 20th century the top two (sometime three) upper
Doublebass strings were
mounted exclusively in gut, a material that had been used for thousand
of years..
A fundamental aim of our research has therefore been to make
a
new synthetic product having the same acoustic properties as gut - but
without its typical defects (high cost, limited duration and high
instability under varying climatic).
Nylgut®
has precisely these qualities: allowing one, on the one hand, to
rediscover the sonorities familiar to the great 19th and 20th century
doublebass's Jazz masters.
The four strings of our Thunder set, overspun with smooth pure silver wires for
the G & D strings; silver-plated
copper fot the AA and EE ones. These strings are made with
a core of Nylgut®
multifilament that ensures not
only a
high resistance to tensile stress but also a low absorption of both
atmospheric humidity and sweat.
This makes for rapid and stable
intonation, as well as greater durability.
